MEANING
A smile
A hug
A kiss
All simple intimacies that we often experience
And we use them as symbols with meaning
But what if we didn't have to?
A sensual kiss on the rooftop in the starry skies
Him tasting like weed and a hint of mint
His hands in my hair
My hands on his neck
It could mean something
But why does it have to?
I muse at the thought of sharing a moment because we can
And not having the anxiety that follows of defining what we are
It was just a kiss
Just a hug
Just one touch
The thought that one kiss shouldn't mean the door is open seems not so
plausible in society today
But why shouldn't it?
We are blessed with immense freedom yet we choose to imprison ourselves in the
conceptualization of our actions
Is mere attraction being rewarded by a kiss simply not enough meaning?
We are so suffocated in the meaning that we fail to absorb the feeling
It should always be about what it makes you feel
When someone holds you so tight you feel them absorbing your cold filling you
with warmth
Why give meaning to such a docile yet wholesome experience?
When someone's smile lights your dim day
Does the feeling matter more than what it meant?
Symbolic interactionism Is a fickle concept that aims at caging our
feelings
We don't kiss strangers because what would they think it meant?
Men don't hug other men because what will others think?
We don't touch those whose touch we crave so dearly because we are so
disillusioned by what society perceives of such a mere action
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
But it's stranger what limitations will make wholesome actions feel
